A unique trip to a unique place! Fondly known as “Scotland in Miniature”, Arran certainly has it all! Superb scrambling on pristine granite, breathtaking views, incredible airy ridges and a beautiful climate make this one of our most sought-after trips of the year. Throw in beautiful food, local produce a-plenty and a veritable array of accommodation options and you have the makings of a truly memorable trip. The long weekend will take in three big scrambling days, enabling you to build up your head for heights and tick some of Arran’s iconic peaks! A second mountaineering instructor will join the group for days where the use of a rope is required, when the instructor:client ratio will be 1:3 max. Exact itineraries are weather and client-dependent, but are likely to include circuits of Goatfell, Glen Rosa and Glen Sannox, by the most entertaining of routes! The other-worldly summits of Cir Mhor and Beinn Tarsuinn are likely to be included on the bigger days.
We will aim will be to get you back in time for the last ferry back to Ardrossan on the final day.

This trip focusses on your development, taking you through the full gambit from ridgewalking to more advanced scrambling techniques and progressively more challenging routes. All you need to choose is your ferry and accommodation! Arran is fantastically set-up for all budgets and tastes: from hotels to hostels, campsites to B+Bs. The course is based primarily around the Glen Rosa area – only a short distance from the ferry and a beautiful idyllic spot, so please bear this in mind when making your selection. There is even a campsite in Glen Rosa itself (very basic but a great location at the foot of the hills). A word of warning however: due to Arran’s popularity, we advise booking both ferry and accommodation as soon as possible after booking onto the course. It is also our recommendation that you aim to arrive on the island the night before the course.

The trip will be run by Neil personally. Having run multiple climbing and scrambling trips to Arran, he knows the area intimately and is extremely passionate about it. As a qualified Mountaineering and Climbing Instructor, he can lead, guide and instruct you while offering coaching, tips and instruction throughout, as well as the physical security of a rope if required. You will be in the safest of hands, allowing you to tackle not just the peaks but the magnificent scrambling in between with confidence and security. The focus is on your development and enjoyment of this wonderful island.

Group sizes are kept very low to maximise your safety, learning and enjoyment.
A high standard of fitness is required for these three challenging big days. ⛰️⛰️
